Mastr III Tuning Info

VHF

UHF

Personally when I tune a Mastr III I use the TQ-0650 GE test jig that makes things insanely easier, it is a standalone box that has a card edge connector on one end and on the other there is a DB25, you need a straight thru DB25 M to F cable for that and it goes into the parallel port of your computer. There are several different versions of the software for this test jig, If I am tuning UHF radios I almost always use the dos RFTest software, it doesnt get as upset as the windows version on out of band frequencies

RX Synthesizer Module

Equipment Required
  • Service Monitor and/or Counter
  • DVM/AVM
Setup
  1. Connect BNC cable from J2 to Counter / Service Monitor
  2. Insert negative lead from DVM into common port on TQ-0650 module
  3. Insert Postiive lead from DVM into Test port on TQ-0650 Mdoule
  4. Enter frequency information into rftest software, make note of frequency that RFTest software indicating you want to get on your counter (it should be 21.4Mhz below RX Frequency)
Alignment
  1. Slowly turn using a non metalic screwdrvier the vco, you want to get as close as freqency as possible to what the laptop is telling you, you also want to pay attention to voltage up to that point and you want it to be around 6VDC at that freauency.

TX Synthesizer Module

Equipment Required
  • Service Monitor and/or Counter
Setup
  1. Attach BNC cable rom J1 to J13 on TQ-0650 Box
  2. Attach BNC cable from J2 to Freauency Counter / Service Monitor
  3. Enter frequency information into RFTest software, make sure you change module type to TX Syntheiszer in the setup & finally hit spacebar to load data to the test module, hit
